“The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.”

Our clueless Energy Secretary Steven Chu is now proposing that we can solve energy and more importantly for him Global Warming by moving people into small, much smaller, apartments.
It’s not widely believed you can do this in a cost-effective way, and so I think we can develop design tools to help people actually design buildings to do this.
You read stories in Europe where there are in small apartments zero-net energy consumption apartments. There is–you know, body heat keeps a lot of the apartment warm. You can’t do this in a big apartment with a few people.
Steven Chu is also responsible for wonderful ideas such as диваниpainting roofs white and raising the price of gas because it is good for us (Hint to Mr. Chu Energy drives our economy and prosperity).
While traveling through much of the former Eastern Block I have seen that is what the statist governments did as well. Does not surprise me this is where this guy is going.

California’s primary legislative body, that is the judicial branch, has once again issued a fiat that defies belief. The ruling by Judge Shelleyanne Chang of Sacramento County Superior Court finds that schools are found to be discriminating if they try to enforce gender separated restrooms and locker rooms. Judge Chang, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, said
opponents of the law had failed to show that their clients’ privacy had been invaded, or was likely to be invaded, or that school officials would be unable to determine the gender of students who wanted to use a restroom.

ABC News observes that President Obama is the first (and only) president to have voted to filibuster a Supreme Court nominee. Apparently the GOP is not considering a filibuster but Obama has already set a demanding timetable to get his nomination through. In 2006 then Senator Obama voted for a filibuster on Samuel Alito stating:
“…I think Judge Alito, in fact, is somebody who is contrary to core American values, not just liberal values, you know. When you look at his decisions in particular during times of war, we need a court that is independent and is going to provide some check on the executive branch, and he has not shown himself willing to do that repeatedly.”
Just as remarkable is that Sonia Sotomayor is anything but independent. Both share similar philosophies, the core of which is viewing the constitution as a hindrance to their social agendas.

Shelby County is set to vote on an ordinance that would grant special protection based on sexual orientation and gender identity. In addition to special privileges it appears the ordinance would would directly impact contractors who do not support the gay agenda. Section 12-127, for instance, states:
Discrimination by a contractor who contracts with Shelby County Government against a contractor’s employee on the basis of Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity or Expression shall be prohibited. (c) Discrimination by a private Employer in an unincorporated area of Shelby County against any person employed by such private Employer on the basis of Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity or Expression is prohibited, subject to the limitations in state law and the Shelby County Charter. (d) The provisions of this article pertaining to contractors shall only apply to contracts with Shelby County Government for which an RFP, or any sealed bid or proposal is issued after July 1, 2009.
